Choosing a Size
There are 3 sizes:
- The Odin Original
- The Odin XL
- The Odin Dual
Each of these sizes comes in a residential "home" version and a commercial "pro" version.
The Odin Original/Original Pro is comfortable for most users measuring up to approximately 6'2" (187cm).
The Odin XL/XL Pro is recommended for users over 6'2" or for those who want a bit of extra legroom.
The Dual/Dual Pro can comfortably accommodate two people plunging at once.
Which Model Is Right For Me?
Odin comes in 3 different sizes, with a “home-use” version (Original) and a commercial-use version (Pro) available for each size.
Home-use is for residential daily use.
Commercial-use for businesses typically consists of multiple users plunging per hour, multiple times a day.
Original vs. Pro
The difference between the Original-version models and Pro-version models is the compressor and the filtration system.
The Original versions use a 1/4 horsepower compressor, and the Pro versions use a 1/2 horsepower compressor.
The Pro versions can return to starting temperature after use much faster (10-15 minutes), compared to the Original versions which take longer (45 - 60 minutes).
Odin Pro’s also have a larger filter to accomodate multiple plunges daily. We also offer a UV upgrade that allows extra sanitisation (in addition to the ozone) to ensure that your clients will feel safe and clean for every plunge!
We recommend the Pro versions for commercial use - such as gyms or wellness centres - as they will need a stronger compressor and filter to be used continuously and multiple times an hour.
Set Up & Installation
For international orders, the Odin is shipped with the housing step detached and stored inside the tub for protection during transit. Upon receiving your Odin a refrigeration technician will be needed gas the compressor prior to first use as well as a simple connection of the electrical plug by a certified technican. (See FAQs for further info)
Maintenance requirements
We recommend staining the cedar every 6-12 months to keep it fresh - just depending on your personal preferences.
For a home-use bath we recommend cleaning the reusable filter every 3-4 weeks, and the water can be replaced every 2-3 months, depending on your personal preferences.
For commercial-use we recommend cleaning the reusable filter every 1-2 weeks for your client peace-of-mind, and replacing the water every 1-2 months, depending on degree of use.
The maintenance and cleaning of the water and filter in your Odin will depend on use. If you are rinsing off between sauna sessions or work outs you will find that your Odin will stay cleaner for longer!
**Please note: the Odin is designed to be kept under cover and out of direct sunlight and harsh weather. Please see FAQs for more info.
Insulated Lid
The Odin comes with an insulated lockable spa lid that is custom fit to your tub! It will keep the cold air in - allowing for a more economical plunge that uses less energy to stay cool.
Noise and Output
The Odin is designed to be left on 24/7 just like a fridge or freezer! The Odin Original uses a similar amount of power as a large chest freezer, the Pro versions use a similar amount of power as an extra large chest freezer.
The noise output is similar to that of a large chest freezer.
All models of the Odin uses an Australian 10amp RCD safety plug for your piece of mind when plunging. For USA orders we have a recommended step up transformer from Amazon that will allow you to run your Odin on 110V circuit with no hardwiring needed!
Cooling Compressor
Unlike other “ice baths” that use external chillers, the Odin uses a cooling compressor that is connected to copper coils wrapped around the inner stainless steel tub walls.
This allows the Odin to reach a true 0ºC (32ºF) becuase it is the stainless steel wall cooling the bath not an external chiller so there is no heat loss when water is pulled out of the bath for cleaning and sanitisation.
If left on at a low enough temperature the Odin will make its own ice! The ice will form in smooth waves on the walls, along the lines of the copper coil.
We use Tecumseh R404a cooling compressors. The Original version models use a 1/4 horsepower compressor and the Pro-version models use a 1/2 horsepower compressor.
The cooling system is purchased from a refrigerant company on the Gold Coast, Australia. They are imported to Australia from Mexico where they are made and are commonly used all around the USA.
Tub Materials
The Odin uses marine grade 316 stainless steel and 100% clear western red cedar.
We start with a coil of stainless steel and a pile of raw cedar and hand-make the Odin into the product you know and love!
Warranty
Every Odin comes with a five-year limited warranty.
You will receive:
- 5 year warranty on the cosmetic components, such as the stainless steel tub and the cedar.
- 3 year warranty on the working components, which includes the cooling compressor, plumbing and electrical.
