FAQ

What is the difference between The Odin Ice Bath and The Odin Plunge?

Odin Plunge: The Cold Plunge Experience

The Odin Plunge embraces a unique cooling approach. The water embarks on a journey, leaving the tub through to the external chiller before returning for your plunge experience. However, due to the continuous liquid state requirement, the temperature can only reach a minimum of 3°C (37.4°F). Versatility is key, with the Odin Plunge offering both cold plunges as low as 3°C (37.4°F) and soothing warmth up to 40°C (104°F).

Odin Ice Bath: The True Ice Bath Revolution

Step into a new era with the Odin Ice Bath, where innovation meets icy excellence. Copper coils are wrapped around the tub, while a refrigerator compressor works its magic  and cools the water directly – just like a chest freezer chills your food. The result? Unparalleled cooling efficiency, allowing the water to plummet to a remarkable 0°C (32°F) and even transform into ice.

Choosing Your Path to Recovery

In the realm of ice baths, the choice is clear – we recommend the Odin Ice Bath for those who crave the absolute chill, and The Odin Plunge for those who appreciate the balance of cold and warm plunges. Elevate your recovery experience with the superior technology, unparalleled cooling capabilities, and outstanding craftsmanship that define the Odin difference.

What is the difference between the Lite and Pro versions?

1. Pro Efficiency

Odin Ice Baths use a Tecumseh R404a cooling compressors. The Lite models use a 1/4 horsepower compressor and our Pro models use a 1/2 horsepower compressor.

The Odin Plunge use a Tuya External chiller. The Lite models use a 1 horsepower Chiller  and our Pro models use a 1 horsepower chiller and have the ability to use Chlorine which is beneficial to keeping your tub cleaner for longer.

Experience the difference in recovery time with Pro models. Thanks to a larger compressor, they return to the starting temperature in just 15 -25  minutes, while Lite models take 45-60 minutes. Swift, efficient, and ready for your next plunge.

2. Advanced Filtration

Whilst every Odin model keeps water clear with an ozone generator, Pro models go further. Enhanced filtration ensures impeccable hygiene, even with multiple users. Elevate your wellness routine with a consistently pristine experience.

3. Built for Continuous Use

In commercial or hot climate settings, Pro models are strongly advised as the best option. A stronger compressor and superior filtration make them ideal for continuous use, delivering reliability and peak performance. Upgrade to Pro for an exceptional ice bath experience that meets the demands of your lifestyle.

How long should I Cold Plunge for?

Cold therapy temperatures and times vary for each individual, the goal is to enjoy the benefits of ice bathing. What we commonly see is a few minutes at a time for each plunge. It is better to do multiple plunges at low temperatures than fighting to stay in for extended periods of time.

Wim Hof recommends 40ºF (4ºC) for 4 minutes as a great goal to strive for. A good beginner temperature to start at is 50ºF (10ºC) for 2 minutes and gradually drop the temperature and increase the time.

How long or difficult is the setup?

Odin Ice Bath:
For our Australian and international customers the Odin Ice Bath will come completely assembled except for the wall plug. The Odin Ice Bath is free-standing and requires no plumbing. A qualified electrician can effortlessly connect the safety plug, and within minutes, you're ready to plug in, fill up, and turn on – simplicity at its best!

Odin Plunge:
Setup for the Odin Plunge requires a little more effort, taking only 20-30 minutes, we provide an extensive user manual on how to swiftly and efficiently set up your Odin Plunge.

What size Odin Ice Bath/ Odin Plunge is best for me?

The Odin comes in three different sizes: Original, XL and Dual.

The Original models are comfortable for most users measuring up to approximately 6'2" (187cm).

The XL models are recommended for users over 6'2" or for those who want a bit of extra legroom.

For people over 6’2” (187cm) we recommend the Odin XL or Dual sizes, as you will be unable to fully extend your legs in an Odin Original. The Odin Dual can fit 2 large adults or 3 small adults simultaneously.

Can I Put The Odin Ice Bath/ Odin Plunge Outside?

Odin Ice Bath:

Please be advised that your Odin Ice Bath is weather resistant, not weatherproof, due to the electronics in the Compressor as well as the Red Western Cedar staves and MUST be undercover and in shade if outdoors.

If your Ice Bath is being located indoors and the ambient temperature exceeds 100°F or if located outdoors in direct sunlight the cooling performance will be impacted by 50% (it will be 50% less efficient).  This can cause issues on refilling and cooling down your Odin Ice Bath.

In higher temperatures the Odin has to cool more frequently than when in more cooler rooms or undercover.

Odin Plunge:

Please be advised that your Odin Plunge is weather resistant, not weatherproof. We recommend the Odin Plunge be placed undercover/ in shade if outdoors due to the red western cedar staves and If placed indoors please ensure it is located in a well-ventilated space.

In terms of a cover, every Odin comes with an insulated lockable spa lid to keep your tub cool!

What are the electrical requirements for my Odin?

Odin Ice Bath:

All models of the Odin operate on 220-240v power and use a standard 10amp household power socket. Every model comes equipped with an RCD safety plug and is designed to be left on 24/7.

PLEASE NOTE: Some international customers, such as those in the United States, will need to use a voltage converter. This will come with your odin Delivery

Lite-version models (1⁄4 HP compressor) & Pro-version models (1⁄2 HP compressor) require at least a 4000w converter.

The Lite-version models use a similar amount of power as a large chest freezer; around 6-8kWh/day.

The Pro-version models use a similar amount as an extra-large chest freeze; around 10-12kWh/day.

Odin Plunge:

All Odin Plunges will come with a power plug to suit the requirements of your country.

Our friendly staff will request this information once the order has been placed.

Can I wire in a 240V circuit?

Odin Ice Bath only:

Yes but ensure it is 220/240V between phase and neutral - 50HZ

And ensure the plug type is I, as this is Australian.

USA Only:

240V single phase

Single-phase is a service configuration offered by electric utilities and is typically provided to residential and small commercial customers. It is most often provided as 120/240V service, 120 volts for the lights and the outlets and 240 volts for the large energy-using appliances.

The neutral is the center wire. Connecting the center bushing and either outside bushing provides 120 volts. This is called a phase-to-neutral connection. Connecting the two outside wires provides 240 volts. This type of connection is called phase-to-phase. The utility provides three wires to the premises, each connected to one of the transformer bushings.

When the electrician wires separate circuits in the facility he can make that circuit carry either 120V or 240V by connecting the circuit to the proper combination of wires. For circuits serving lights and wall outlets, the electrician will provide 120V. And for circuits powering large appliances such as electric ranges, ovens, freezers, refrigerators, and dryers he will provide 240V.

Where can I position my Odin Ice Bath?

Ensure the Odin's longevity by keeping it sheltered and shielded from direct weather exposure.

While the Odin is water-resistant, its electrical components make it not entirely waterproof. It's crucial to avoid subjecting the Odin to direct, intense sunlight, as this can cause the cooling compressor to overwork, potentially affecting the unit's durability over time.

Cold Climates: does the Odin Ice Bath and The Odin Plunge work in freezing temperatures?

The Odin ice bath is designed exclusively for cooling purposes and does not have heating capabilities. While the Odin Plunge does offer both hot and cold features, it is essential to store any Odin Product when the weather drops below 0ºC (34ºF) and the Ice bath is located outside.

If the temperatures consistently fall below freezing, posing a risk of water circulation freezing, we strongly advise either storing the Odin indoors or, alternatively, draining it and switching it off entirely during these colder periods. Your proactive approach will help preserve the functionality and longevity of your Odin unit.

Noise output - How loud is the Odin Ice Bath/ Odin Plunge?

The Odin Ice Bath’s compressor has a similar noise output to a large chest freezer.
Sound Power Level - 69 Decibels

The Odin Plunge 's Chiller has a similar noise output to the Odin Ice Bath.
Sound Power Level - 68 Decibels

Drainage requirements - How do I empty my Odin?

All Odin models feature a convenient bottom drain with an 18mm (3/4in) garden hose attachment. To drain, attach a hose to the accessible elbow pipe under the bath, press the plug, and the Odin will drain effortlessly.

Moving the Odin - Will I be able to get the Odin into my property?

The Odin ice baths were meticulously designed to stand at a height of 71cm/28in, ensuring they can smoothly fit through a standard doorway when tilted onto their side.

IMPORTANT: After tilting your Odin sideways, it should be left undisturbed for a certain period before being switched on—similar to the precaution taken when turning a fridge on its side.
